PLEASE JOIN US AT OUR "ALL BEHAVIORS WELCOME" CONCERTS!

Azure events are fun, friendly and engaging performances tailored to children and young adults who are on the autism spectrum or have similar challenges.

Since many with autism (or related challenges) cannot attend traditional music performances due to uncontrollable vocalizations or physical movements, the Azure concerts create a musical environment where such behaviors are not frowned upon, but joyfully accepted and embraced.

From a parent with a child with autism:

"Our lives are hard, some a lot harder than others, and this concert made that all go away for an hour.  It was bliss.  I am forever grateful for this one hour of true joy that we had as a family."

Azure Family Concerts were started by Stephen Prutsman, world renowned concert pianist and autism Dad in the Bay Area of California. In the summer of 2016, Baltimore violist Maria Lambros was deeply inspired by the joy and excellence of an Azure concert presented by Steve and the St. Lawrence Quartet at Stanford University. With Steve's encouragement and help, she started an Azure series in Baltimore in 2017. A congregant and member of Baltimore Hebrew Congregation's Inclusion and Accessibility Committee, Lambros approached the synagogue administration about presenting these concerts on an ongoing basis. The synagogue has embraced the concerts with open arms, offering their beautiful and accessible space.
